Launch of the Financial Markets Recovery Project in Bangladesh, Followed by the Corporate Governance Training of Trainers Program for the Banking Sector in South Asia

The first Corporate Governance Board Leadership Training of Trainers (ToT) for board directors of financial institutions in Bangladesh and South Asia was held at the Bangladesh Enterprise Institute (BEI) on March 4-6, 2011. It was organized by the Global Corporate Governance Forum in cooperation with IFC South Asia Advisory Services (in the context of the IFC Bangladesh Corporate Governance Project) in partnership with BEI, Bangladesh Association of Banks (BAB), and Bangladesh Institute of Capital Market (BICM).

The TOT participants, screened from over 50 applicants, included 20 high level board members and former managing directors of banks, university professors, professional auditors, chartered accountants and lawyers. The participants were selected based on their background, expertise, and potential to deliver further capacity building on corporate governance for the banking sector.
