The Middle East Investor Relations Society (ME-IR Society), a non-profit organization that aims to support the further development and practice of investor relations across the Middle East, honoured the thought leaders of IR best practices at its second Annual Awards, dubbed as the region’s ‘IR Oscars.’

At a glittering ceremony held in Beirut, Lebanon, individuals and corporates who have set benchmarks in modern IR practices were honoured. The finalists were selected through feedback from a Thomson Reuters Extel Survey which gathered votes from 223 fund managers and analysts from over 70 countries.

Over 100 delegates attended the event from ME-IR Society Chapters including Lebanon, UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, Palestine, Jordan, Syria and Egypt.

Arif Amiri, Chairman of ME-IR Society, said: “One of the reasons cited by analysts for the relatively smooth transition of the Middle East region into today’s post-crisis era is the emphasis placed by businesses and governments on the highest standards of accountability, corporate governance and transparency. The IR practices of the region’s leaders, showcased at the Second Annual Awards of ME-IR Society, highlight the global standards that organisations here follow.”

He added: “The IR practice in the region has also gained tremendously over the past years led by concerted efforts by ME-IR Society to promote international best practices. I extend my congratulations to all winners, and wish that their success will inspire other organisations in the region to implement and adhere to modern IR practices.”
