4th DFI Conference on Corporate Governance: “Corporate Governance and the Role of DFIs in Responding to the Financial Crisis”

The Fourth Annual Conference of Development Financial Institutions (DFI) on Corporate Governance was held this November 10th and 11th, in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. The Andean Development Corporation (CAF), as a member of the Working Group, arranged the event. The Working Group represents all of the original signatories of the Corporate Governance Apporach Statement by Development Finance Institutions. Currently the Group brings together the African Development Bank (AfDB), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the Dutch Development Bank (FMO), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB). In addition, the event enjoyed the special collaboration of the Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social from Brasil (BNDES).

The purpose of this conference was to follow up on the progress made regarding the Corporate Governance Apporach Statement, signed in 2007 by 31 DFI’s. The event allowed participants to share experiences implementing the principles within diverse international contexts, such as Africa, America, Asia and Europe.
